DONATION GUIDE

Want to know the payment options and tax-deductible status of an organization on our list? Jump to the ”Making your donation” section.

Bidding has ended, and now it’s time to turn words into action and donate! All auction winners should have received an email by now; if you checked your inbox and spam folder but don’t see our email, please let us know. If you’re a proxy bidder, forward the email you received to the person you were bidding for and CC us in the email so we know who to contact!

Winners have until our donation deadline of November 5 at 11:59 PM ET (what time is that for me?) to donate and forward proof of donation to marveltrumpshate+winner@gmail.com according to the instructions below.

Donation instructions:

  • Check your creator’s preferred charities on their auction post. We ask that you respect your creator’s preferences, but you can also choose one of the other organizations from our organizations list to donate to. Your donation(s) must be to one of the charities on our list, or you will not receive your fanwork.
  • You’re free to donate to local chapters of organizations. For example, Amnesty International will redirect you to your country’s donation page, ACLU has state-specific pages, and Planned Parenthood has their Action Fund, which is their non-tax-exempt political advocacy branch. As long as the place you’re donating to is clearly connected to the parent organization on our list, it’s fine.
  • Be sure that you include the following in your email to us:
    1. a screenshot or PDF copy of your donation receipt that includes the date, donation amount, and organization name (personal info such as your name, address, and credit card number can be redacted)
    2. the auction number and creator name that this donation is for (e.g.. 403 – Lore). This is especially important if you won more than one auction or are donating to more than one organization—mods need to be able to match donations to individual auctions!
    3. the username and email you bid under
  • Some of the donation pages and receipts don’t state the organization’s name or include a different name. For example, ConPRMetidos lists “Maria: Puerto Rico Real-Time Recovery Fund” on its page. If your receipt doesn’t state the organization’s name, include a note so that the mods aren’t confused.

If you have any questions, please refer to our Bidder’s FAQ.

WHERE TO DONATE

Below are all thirty of our supported organizations with details regarding various methods of payment and tax deduction. The following information is from the sites themselves, and MTH is not responsible for the accuracy of this information.

If the charity of your choice doesn’t have a local branch in your country, check how and in which cases you can deduct donations to international charities from your taxes.

Before you donate, make sure that you can get a receipt or similar proof of your donation by November 5 at 11:59 PM ET (what time is that for me?) at the latest in order to make it count for MTH. International bank transfers or sending a check via snail mail overseas will take too long.
