- Work Description:
- A piece of embroidery in the traditional English ‘Laid and Couch’ style (ala The Bayeux tapestry), which is made of woollen threads on woollen fabric. The maximum size of the fabric used would be 10 inches by 14 inches, but could be smaller if only one character is depicted.
The piece will be hemmed in natural linen regardless of the final bid. It can either be hemmed flat so it can be placed in a frame, or hemmed so that it can be hung on a ½ inch wooden dowel (neither supplied). Note that with hemming, the piece will be smaller than 10×14 and the image will not take up the full space.
Tiers:
$30 will get you one full length figure
$50 will get you two full length figures OR one figure and a non-character element (see below)
$70 will get you two full length figures AND a non-character element (e.g. a tree, an animal, a piece of furniture, a quote). If you have a specific thing in mind, please contact me to see if it’s possible.
$90 will get you the addition of a simple coloured, embroidered border (separate to the hemming), such a double straight line, or a single wavy/zig-zag line. Again, if you have something specific in mind, please contact me. This is the maximum number of elements, no matter how high the bidding goes.
Shipping will be from the UK and I will cover the first £20 of shipping fees. If fees are higher than that, I would ask the winning bidder to pay the difference.
I would prefer fluff, but it could be possible to imply mature sexual content by what the characters are wearing (or not) or holding. In theory I don’t have a problem with including genitals (see example works), but it is more the practicalities of scale (I have already discovered that trying to put glasses on a character does not work, even with one-ply wool). Canon-typical violence is also not too much of an issue – again please think about scale.
The image commissioned can be from a fic you love, a fic you’re writing, a gift for a friend’s fic or just an image that’s stuck in your head! Due to the embroidery style it suits Medieval AUs and fantasy AUs, but it is not limited to that and I will do my best to interpret modern or future elements—please feel free to reach out and discuss your ideas.
I’m open to more characters than in my list, especially if they have distinctive costumes/hair styles/features. (e.g. X Men, Defenders, Fantastic Four). Platonic pairings are also very much encouraged.
