- Work Description:
- I'm a long-time fic reader offering to beta up to 40K words. Total words could amount to one longer fic or several shorter ones. I'm open to higher word counts for higher bids! I will also match the winning bid with my own donation to a charity of your choice from the MTH list! I will 1:1 match any winning bid up to $100 (or more if my own bids don't pan out).
I'm most familiar with Avengers and Avengers-adjacent canon and Stucky is my OTP, but I'm open to most things. If you're writing an AU, I have life and work experience that gives me a good eye for realism in stories set in the arts world (classical music especially, but also rock/pop, theater, fine arts, etc.), as well as in college/university or museum settings. I'm well-traveled in the US and beyond and as a fandom elder of a certain age, I have firsthand memory of life before the interwebs and cell phones that might be handy for a 20th-century setting.
I'm happy to provide any combination of beta-reading skills/styles. Want a brainstorming buddy? You bet! Want a cheer-reading pal? I'm your gal. Just want a pair of eyes to copy edit? I'll gladly wrangle your commas, semi-colons, and misplaced modifiers. All of these or pick just one! I love supporting writers in their process and watching a work come together.
My Résumé: I have had the incredible honor of beta-ing recently for the amazing Dharmashark (check out her HR fic "Departures"!) and I loved the process and am dying to do more! I also have professional credentials that I won't list here, but helping people with writing (non-fiction) is part of my job. Also, I'm about as non-judgemental about other people's writing as it's possible to be.
Timing: If you have a specific time frame in mind, please reach out before you bid to be sure I can meet your deadline given the busy patches in my year. Otherwise, I'm happy to work with you on your schedule.
Mostly, I want to read the story someone is excited to write! I'd be delighted to chat about what you have in mind and see if I'm a good fit. Happy MTH, everyone, and lots of love to the Mods!
